The global outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) is slowing down the economy and eliminating thousands of jobs in the global supply chain in South East Asia, according to IndustriAll Global Union.
Clothing workers in Cambodia and Myanmar are among the hardest hit. With garment factories relying on raw materials from China, factory owners in these countries have begun suspending operations and retrenching workers as manufacturing has plunged in China and orders are reduced from buyers in virus-affected locations, including the US and Europe.
