Surhonteks group to open three new plants in Uzbekistan

Part of South Development Holding, Uzbek textile producer Surhonteks is to start up three new plants over the next few months (writes Jozef De Coster). According to Utkir Jaborov, head of the sales department, the large investment programme will result in the group’s annual output growing by 500%.

Currently, Surhonteks processes cotton and spins 100% cotton yarn at the NortexStyle FE factory in Djarkurgan, Surkhandarya region, southern Uzbekistan, which employs more than 500 people and has an annual output of 7,000 tonnes of yarn.

In addition up to 15,000 linear metres of grey fabric (satin, calico and percale) are produced daily: up to 5.4m metres of fabric per year, using modern looms from Picanol of Belgium.
