Sustainable processing for Philippine bamboo fabric

Bamboo is the latest addition to the Philippines’ natural fibres, joining pineapple, abaca and banana, which are being converted into fabric and textiles by the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) textile processing technology.

The Philippine Textile Research Institute, the textile arm of DOST, has been invested to develop natural textile fibres as better options to petroleum- and chemical-based synthetic fibres.
