Synthetic fabric material for prosthetic heart valves

Synthetic fabric materials that can be used in various medical devices, particularly collapsible/expandable prosthetic heart valves useful for delivery through a catheter or trocar, have been developed by Abbott Laboratories.

The materials can also be used for the construction of venous valves, occluders, prosthetic vascular conduits, grafts and embolic protection devices, fabrics for treating hernias, skin patches, vaginal patches, cardiac patches, adhesion barriers and surgical heart valves, says the company of Abbot Park, Illinois, USA.
