Tesla CEO hints at vegan leather for vehicle interiors

During the electric vehicle maker’s annual shareholder meeting last month, Tesla chief executive officer Elon Musk revealed that the design team is actively working on “veganising” its interiors, and assured attendees that the upcoming Model Y will be leather (and perhaps steering wheel) free.

The discussion around the Tesla interior fabrics was sparked by Dr Katherine van Ekert, corporate liaison executive at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
