Toray Industries has unveiled plans to construct an airbag fabric plant in Mexico, the Japan-based company’s first production facility related to airbags in the Americas.
The expansion is part of Toray’s aim to boost sales in its textile business to ¥1trn (US$9.55bn) by around 2020 (reports Nikkei Asian Review).
The facility will be located in the grounds of a factory operated by US carbon fibre subsidiary Zoltek.
