Toyoda Gosei building new airbag plant in India

Toyoda Gosei is building a new plant in India to meet growing automobile production in the country and the expected increase in demand for airbags as stricter safety regulations are adopted.

The Japan-based automotive supplier will build the airbag manufacturing plant in the western state of Gujarat. The operation will be part of subsidiary Toyoda Gosei Minda India.

The expected plant cost is US$11.3 million and it will be producing by the second half of fiscal 2017-2018, when it will begin supplies of airbags, weather-strips and other automotive parts to Suzuki Motor Gujarat, the company said in a statement.
