Ukraine's apparel industry production potential

1

Global clothing manufacturers are reported to be considering Ukraine’s apparel industry as an alternative to far-away production in China or expensive labour costs in “Old Europe”.

Business activity in Ukraine grew in 2016, with almost 65% of new orders for clothing production coming from abroad. Exports of finished products increased by 8% and reached US$719.1m, while foreign direct investment reached US$1.5m.

At the current pace, local business representatives expect further placement of large orders from foreign companies at apparel enterprises in 2017 and subsequent years.

According to a report in the Kyiv Post, Ukrainian clothing manufacturers are more flexible in terms of supply offer, with the same production technology and higher product quality than China, Vietnam, Poland, Romania or Bulgaria.
