Ukraine's Prime Minister challenges poor-quality clothing imports

Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov (right) has called for the creation of barriers against the imports of poor-quality goods, particularly clothing. “What is a country doing with a population of 45m that does not manufacture anything for its light industry?” he said.

Azarov believes there should be a set of measures implemented to support domestic manufacturers and protect Ukrainian consumers from poor-quality imports. However, he could only name tax credits that have actually been introduced. (Since the beginning of 2011 Ukrainian light industry enterprises are exempt from income tax for the next 10 years.)
