Fast Retailing has confirmed to business media group Nikkei that it will open a manufacturing facility in Indonesia as early as November in collaboration with partners including Toray Industries.

The parent company of clothing brand Uniqlo is among the many Japanese apparel companies moving production from China to South East Asia in search of lower wage costs.

The plant will use materials procured within Indonesia, departing from the usual practice of importing them from China, as Fast Retailing works to establish vertical production operations in the region.
