Hospitals consume vast amounts of disposable nonwoven products, such as sheets and wipes. These are produced using non-renewable natural resources, and after use the products go directly to waste.
The Finnish-Swedish NordicBio joint project has now developed processes for using recycled materials in hospital textiles, and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has examined several reliable and affordable methods for cleaning fibres.
