Uzbek textile industry faces challenges

As a result of investments and new technologies, productivity in Uzbekistan has increased more than four-fold over the past seven years. In 2023, the manufacture of textiles, clothing and knitwear was valued at US$8.2bn and exports amounted to US$3.1bn.

However, the share of products with high added value in the export of finished goods remains low. Almost 80% of all exports are destined for traditional markets, while exports to Europe fall below expectations.
