Vietnamese clothing exports rise in August

Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports during August grew 2.2% to US$3.37bn year on year, according to new data from customs officials.

In the first eight months of the year, the value of Vietnam’s fibre, textile and clothing exports reached US$25.7bn, up 8.6% year on year, reports the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas), which said 60.6% of that figure came from foreign direct investment enterprises. The industry’s trade surplus during the period amounted to US$10.8bn.
