Vietnamese producers urged to prepare for CPTPP

Vietnam’s textile and clothing producers are being urged to prepare carefully for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

As a result of Vietnam’s membership of the new trade pact, the country’s key exports, including textile and garment products, will be exempt from tariffs, either immediately or within three to five years.

Speaking at a conference on the CPTPP and market development held in the southern Vietnamese city of Can Tho last month, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh said the active participation, negotiation and signing of the CPTPP showed the unified policy of Vietnam’s government in international economic integration.
