World’s largest lyocell plant opened in Thailand

csm pressemeldung 2022 03 03 003 578c6eccc6Austrian cellulosic fibre producer Lenzing has completed work on its new €400m (US$444m) lyocell plant in Thailand – said to be the biggest of its kind in the world – where production is now under way.

The company says the facility, which has an annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes with scope for future expansion, will play a key role in its ambitions to reduce its carbon footprint.

The plant, at Prachinburi, around 150 km northeast of Bangkok, will be entirely biomass-powered and will only produce Lenzing’s “eco-responsible” speciality fibres such as Tencel and Veocel.
