Designing e-textiles for disassembly – seeking solutions from history
Development in textiles production technology has allowed for more automated production, requiring less human involvement. However, in the quest for efficiency, advanced textile production presents several issues when developing and producing innovative e-textiles.
In a webinar organised by the UK-based E-Textiles Network, textile designer/maker and educator Dr Amy Chen of Amy Chen Textiles, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, UK, highlighted how e-textiles development, particularly research into sustainability, can be informed by exploring the history of textile production and what older equipment can offer.
