Inexpensive Covid-19 sensor for face masks

UC face maskIn another development at University of California San Diego, a colour-changing test strip can be attached to a face mask and used to detect SARS-CoV-2 in a user’s breath or saliva.

The project, which received US$1.3m from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is aimed at providing simple, affordable and reliable surveillance for Covid-19 infections that can be done daily and easily implemented in resource-poor settings.
