Threading rows of metal atoms into nanofibre bundles

TMC croppedResearchers from Tokyo Metropolitan University in Japan have successfully threaded atoms of indium metal in between individual fibres in bundles of transition metal chalcogenide nanofibres.

By steeping the bundles in indium gas, rows of atoms were able to make their way in between the fibres to create a unique nanostructure via intercalation.
